Sri Lanka Tourism China Roadshows were successfully conducted by Ionic Media in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai in April 2023

With China lifting the international leisure travel restrictions imposed during the Pandemic period, putting Sri Lanka in the first batch of authorized countries for Chinese travel agencies to conduct outbound group travel and direct flights recommencing between the two countries, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau launched three roadshows in China, with over 30 DMCs, hotel groups, strongly positioning “Sri Lanka is back to China”. The roadshows were wel lattended by 250 guests respectively and have received tremendous responses in the market.

A media briefing was held at Sri Lanka's embassy in Beijing on Dec. 30 to promote the country's national airline and tourism resources. At the briefing, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China Palitha Kohona introduced the country's abundant tourism resources and its traveling requirements against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chinthaka Weerasinghe, regional manager of China and greater East Asia for SriLankan Airlines, the country's national carrier, discussed the company's development, and specifically its operations in China. During the event, two guests were invited to share their traveling experience in Sri Lanka, having captured the beautiful landscape and friendly locals through videos they filmed there. During a raffle, one attendee was lucky enough to win a free ticket from Beijing to Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka, provided by SriLankan Airlines.More than 30 outbound travel agents and 20 media journalists attended the briefing, where travel agents and media representatives also shared the pre-epidemic tourism boom in Sri Lanka and expected a new tourism boom in Sri Lanka after the epidemic in 2022.

On December 8th, 2020, The first Hungarian Wellspring Tourism Economic Innovation Forum hosted by Hungarian Tourism was successfully held online. Chinese media pariticipate in the 17th Great Ethiopian Run

The 17th Great Ethiopian Run was held in the Addis Ababa, the Capital of Ethiopia on November 26th, 2017. The GER attracts almost 44,000 marathon runners across the world. It was initiated by the great marathon runner Haile Gebreselassie in 2001, aiming at helping local African children, women and youth. This year's GER was attended by 9 leading Chinese media, invited by Ionic Media to get more Chinese target audience to get to know about Great Ethiopian Run.
